Welcome from Mrs Dennis

A warm welcome to Newton Regis Primary School. I joined Newton Regis as Head Teacher in 2012 and over the last 2 years have worked closely with staff and pupils to make the most of this lovely rural primary school. As a small school we are lucky to be able to have a real focus on each individual child, and tailor their learning experience to offer the best balance of challenges, support, and of course fun. We work hard to inspire our children through our Creative Curriculum, using a fresh topic each half term to enable pupils to develop and apply their core literacy and numeracy skills through engaging theme-based lessons, activities and trips.

We encourage our children to become independent thinkers and learners, and over the last 2 years we have produced some outstanding results, with children's progress well above the expected national levels. Our goal is to help our children develop a broad range of personal and academic skills to help them mature into confident, capable adults. Our small size, blended classes and whole school approach means that our children learn to be confident school members, playing and learning alongside children of all ages. Within the church school ethos we all work very hard to create a positive atmosphere where everyone can feel happy, secure and valued. Every Friday our Awards assembly recognises children who have produced great work, demonstrated excellent behaviour, and tried their best in their endeavours. We encourage responsibility and aim for each child to experience success and believe in themselves.

As one of four local schools which make up the Heartwood Trust our children benefit from our ability to share resources, facilities, expertise, specialist teaching skills and support with other member schools. It means we can work together to provide a range of special additional activities to enrich the experience of our pupils, and enhance teaching and attainment. These include hosted workshops for able students, like More Able Writers Workshops, and Wow Days, which enable our pupils to enjoy themed events and activities organised by a host school. These develop skills and confidence and reinforce our strong sense of community.
