Changes to the National Curriculum

From September 2014 the government has made significant changes to the National Curriculum, covering both assessment and content. Did you know that levels will no longer be the compulsory basis of progress reports? Instead, assessment will now be based on a broader and more balanced combination of teacher assessment, and assessment papers taken at the end of Years 2 and 6, giving teachers the ability to balance formal assessment with their own understanding of children's skills and progress.  Children will be measured against age related information but the governemnt have yet to explain how.
